ABOUT US

Tordik-Diederich-Duffield VFW Post 4927 was established on November 24, 1945, in Centereach, N.Y., honoring three local men who lost their lives in World War II. The first building, a Quonset hut, was built by members on land donated by the Murray family.

Over the years, the Post fostered many groups, including the Red Baron Fife and Drum Corps (1967–1973) and the Junior Girls Unit, which served the community until 1991. In 1970, a new building was constructed on Horseblock Road, Centereach, becoming the Post’s home for 50 years.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, due to declining membership and financial challenges, the Post made the difficult decision to downsize and relocate to Port Jefferson Station to ensure its survival.

VFW Post 4927 has a proud legacy of leadership, having produced three New York Department VFW Commanders: Christopher J. Mulcahy (1986–87), Donald Doell (2006–07), and Dennis Sullivan (2016–17).

For nearly 80 years, VFW Post 4927 has remained a place for veterans to connect, share stories, and support one another. As we look to the future, we honor our past and remain committed to serving veterans, their families, and our community.
