Born in the Bronx and raised in Wheatley Heights, Suffolk County, Kenneth Arroyo is a U.S. Army veteran with the distinguished honor of having served in all three components of the Army—Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserves. From 1987 to 2009, he dedicated 22 years to military service, deploying to multiple combat zones around the world.
Kenneth began his military career as an infantryman during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf War. He later deployed as a peacekeeper during Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo and ultimately served as a Civil Affairs Operator during Operation Iraqi Freedom I. He retired in 2009 at the rank of First Sergeant.
His commendations include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, and Iraqi Campaign Medal, among others.
Following his military service, Kenneth attended Stony Brook University and went on to serve with the Suffolk County Police Department, retiring after a 29-year career in law enforcement.
Originally a VFW Life Member-at-Large, Kenneth became a member of Tordik-Diederich-Duffield VFW Post 4927 in 2021. Now serving in his first elected position, he uses his extensive leadership and military experience to assist the Commander in achieving the post’s goals. Kenneth is committed to deepening the post’s engagement within the local community through events and public service, fostering strong partnerships that support veterans and their families.
Kenneth and his wife, Jennifer, are the proud parents of three children, all raised in Port Jefferson Station.
